We are building the "E5 Raw Water Tunnel", Oslo's new water supply project. The project involves drilling a 19 km tunnel from Oslo's new reserve water source, Holsfjorden in Viken, to a new water treatment plant being built at Huseby, in the west of Oslo. TBM is central to the project, and we need more people with TBM expertise to work with us on this important project. We have started the conventional driving of the access tunnel and assembly hall, and at the beginning of 2023 we will start the first TBM from Holsfjorden.

This is both a very important project for the people of Oslo, and a very exciting project for those who work with and are interested in tunnels. The project is carried out by Skanska Norway AS in cooperation with Skanska's subsidiary Entreprenørservice.
Skanska has previously completed several projects with TBM, including the Ulriken tunnel in Bergen. In the autumn of 2019, Torbjørn Bakketun and his team Nye Ulriken delivered a tunnel to Bane NOR. The 7.8 km long tunnel between Arna and Bergen is not only the largest railway project in Hordaland in 50 years. This is also the first railway tunnel in Norway that has been operated with a tunnel boring machine. In this case, you can read a little about Torbjørn and how he experienced working on the project and at Skanska.. Read more about it by clicking on this link.
